San Frangeles is less than a week away and new developments come in every moment.
The infamous Marina Bitch (pictured above) has some things to express to her hometown of Los Angeles this weekend. After some contract issue deliberations we were able to deal with, Marina has agreed to open up my set this weekend with a performance. All of those coming to represent the "Pee Play in El Ay" this saturday should think twice about what they are going to be wearing. Take this as inspiration:

Stop Youtube-ing "Typical Girls" and start combing Expedia, because The Slits have reunited! Legendary punks and riot grrrl fairy godmothers Ari Up, Viv Albertine, and Tessa Pollitt have scheduled two shows for early May, one in Dublin and the other in Berlin.

If drool has yet to hit your keyboard, do some homework: the Slits formed in 1976. By 1977 they were on the White Riot Tour, opening for the Buzzcocks and the Clash. Sure beats your gig at the roller rink.

In 1979, they released Cut, one of the greatest punk albums ever made. No, fuck that--one of the greatest albums ever made, period.

On-U Sound's Adrian Sherwood (Depeche Mode, the Fall, Nine Inch Nails) will mix the shows live, and he's on board to produce a new Slits album, tentatively due in the fall.

My personal and professional support lies with 1015 during this most difficult period. As a direct result of the president's weekend homicide at the south-of-market nightclub, 1015 folsom now finds itself in a period of intense scrutiny, review and reflection. Rather than expose the GAY DANCE CROWD to such an environment, gus presents has chosen to keep YOUR T-DANCE off the media / law enforcement / drama radar by moving to an amazing, low key, scrutiny-free alternate venue. Rest assured, gus presents and the MASS T-DANCE will return to the legendary 1015 folsom dance space (once things cool down) at some point this summer!
